Mont-Tremblant, Que./April 7, 2010 - Porter Airlines is offering summer service to Mont-Tremblant and the Upper Laurentians for the first time, with two flights per week between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Mont-Tremblant International Airport (YTM). Service begins June 24, continuing to September 6, 2010, with flights on Thursday and Sunday each week.

Porter has provided winter seasonal service between Mont-Tremblant and Toronto since 2007. The announcement of summer service follows three successful winter seasons. This past season saw an increased winter schedule, with eight flights weekly, up from the two flights offered in the first year of service.

“Porter is building on our winter success in this market by making available new summer service between Mont-Tremblant and Toronto,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “The region is known for its transformation between seasons. Continental flies New York to Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant, October 23, 2009 -  For a third consecutive year, Continental Airlines will offer non-stop service to Mont-Tremblant and the Upper Laurentians via flights between Newark airport (EWR) and Mont-Tremblant International Airport (YTM) from December 17, 2009, to March 28, 2010, with three to four flights per week.

The agreement between the Laurentians air tourism group Tourisme aérien Laurentides (TAL) and Continental Airlines makes our area more accessible to guests, and we have the destinations and tourist experiences to attract them,” notes TAL spokesperson Paul Calce.

“Mont-Tremblant is now an internationally known tourist destination and a major attraction for travellers. The tourist industry in the immediate vicinity of Tremblant, and that of the Upper Laurentians, can take advantage of the resort’s visibility with American travellers. We also have a marketing committee working exclusively on the promotion and positioning of this area, of our tourist products and of the airport,” Mr. Calce adds.

Mont-Tremblant International Airport redevelopment

We all knew about the small airport where private jets and sightseeing boat-planes could land but it was a bit exclusive until Porter Airlines started flying people in from Toronto and New York.

In June 2009 we have learnt that MTIA has government approval and funding for an expansion making more accessible to everyone. The artists impression below suggests that it will be large enough for European and Mexican carriers to get their planes in.

This will be such an asset, promoting the Laurentians as a world class skiing destination. Work is due to start next year and it is anticipated that the new airport will be open in 2011.
